Telemundo grows broadcasting reach
Denver Business Journal
Telemundo now has the power to reach all viewers in Denver.
The network, which NBC is buying, began broadcasting at midnight Monday on KDEN, moving off two low-power television stations.
Previously carried on KMAS (Channel 63) and KSBS (Channel 67), it's now carried on KDEN (Channel 25).
"This is a new era for Spanish-language television in Denver," Clara Rivas, general manager of KDEN, said in a news release.
KDEN, which is carried on Comcast as Channel 20, is being acquired by NBC Universal for its Telemundo Television Stations Group. NBC is waiting for approval from the Federal Communications Commission before the sale can go through.
In the meantime, KDEN is carrying the Telemundo programming pursuant to a time brokerage agreement. The station has begun an advertising campaign on television and radio titled "Muevete al 25" to inform viewers about the channel switch.
