India women blanked 0-3 by Kiwis in World Cup hockey
    Pakistan Telegraph
    Wednesday 8th September, 2010
    (IANS)

India were blanked 0-3 by New Zealand in their last pool match in the women's World Cup hockey at the Jockey Club here.

India have recorded only one win in their five pool matches and finished fifth in the standings with three points. They now play South Africa for the 9-10 positions Friday.

The Indians Tuesday held New Zealand goalless in the first half but the Kiwis led by skipper Kayla Sharland ran amok in the second half. Sharland (44th and 55th minute) and Katie Glynn (51st min) were the goalscorers for New Zealand.

New Zealand will now play China for 7-8 positions.
